Attachment Pattern Quiz
People do not fit neatly into one permanent attachment label. You may feel comfortable with closeness in one relationship but more anxious or guarded in another. Stress, trust, past experiences, and the behaviour of a partner can all affect how attachment patterns show up.
Attachment Pattern Quiz
Explore attachment anxiety, avoidance and secure-functioning behaviours. Patterns can change across relationships and life stages.
Your Results
This quiz looks at three dimensions rather than assigning a fixed personality type:
- Attachment anxiety, including fear of rejection, reassurance-seeking, and sensitivity to distance.
- Attachment avoidance, including discomfort with dependence, emotional distance, and a strong preference for self-reliance.
- Secure-functioning behaviours, including comfort with closeness, independence, reassurance, and constructive conflict.
How to use the quiz
- Read each statement and choose how often it feels true for you.
- Answer based on your usual experience in close relationships rather than one unusual week.
- Complete all questions.
- Select See My Pattern.
- Review the three scores together rather than treating one number as a diagnosis.
How to interpret the result
Higher attachment anxiety can mean that signs of distance or uncertainty feel especially important. You may want more reassurance or become alert to possible rejection when a relationship feels unstable.
Higher attachment avoidance can mean that independence feels safer when emotions become intense. You may prefer handling difficult feelings alone or pull back when closeness feels demanding.
Higher secure-functioning scores reflect behaviours such as asking for reassurance directly, allowing both closeness and independence, and staying engaged during conflict without assuming the relationship is ending.
These dimensions can overlap. A person can experience both anxiety and avoidance, or show secure behaviours in some relationships while struggling in others. Patterns can also change over time.
What this quiz cannot tell you
This is an educational self-reflection tool. It does not diagnose a mental-health condition, determine the quality of your relationship, or explain why a particular pattern developed.
If attachment concerns cause significant distress or affect your relationships repeatedly, a qualified mental-health professional can help you explore them in context.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is attachment style fixed for life?
No. Attachment-related behaviours can change with experience, relationship context, self-awareness, and therapeutic support.
Can I have both anxious and avoidant tendencies?
Yes. The dimensions can overlap, which is why this quiz reports them separately.
Does a high anxiety score mean I have an anxious attachment disorder?
No. The quiz does not diagnose disorders. It only reflects how your answers relate to common attachment-anxiety behaviours.
Does a high avoidance score mean I do not care about relationships?
No. Avoidance can reflect discomfort with dependence or emotional intensity rather than lack of care.
Can my results differ between relationships?
Yes. Trust, safety, relationship history, and a partner’s behaviour can influence how attachment patterns appear.
Are my answers stored?
No. The current version processes answers in your browser and does not send them to WordPress or an external service.
Should I use this quiz to make relationship decisions?
Use it as a conversation and reflection aid, not as a verdict about yourself, your partner, or your relationship.
